STORAGENEAR Service Guide (Canada Storage Directory)
Last updated: 30/12/2025
Welcome to STORAGENEAR, a directory that helps people across Canada discover self-storage options and helps storage businesses improve their visibility online. This Service Guide explains:
- How STORAGENEAR collects and verifies listing information
- What information may appear in a listing
- How storage businesses can add a listing, request updates, or request removal
- How we handle accuracy, disputes, and response timelines
1. What STORAGENEAR Is (and Isn’t)
STORAGENEAR is a directory and discovery platform. We organize information about storage businesses and locations to make it easier for users to compare options.
STORAGENEAR is not:
- A storage facility operator
- A broker or reseller of storage units
- A party to any agreement between a customer and a storage provider
Any booking, pricing, contracts, and services are provided by the storage business directly.
2. How We Source Listing Information (Public & Open Sources)
STORAGENEAR builds and maintains listings using publicly available, open, and lawful sources. This allows us to publish and maintain a broad and useful directory for users across Canada.
2.1 Public Sources We May Use
We may collect listing data from sources such as:
- Storage business websites (public pages)
- Public business directories and maps (where permitted)
- Public social profiles that represent the business (e.g., business pages)
- Public corporate/registry information where applicable
- Publicly available contact details (phone number, address, hours)
- Publicly posted amenities and features (e.g., climate control, RV storage)
- Public customer review platforms (displayed as references or summaries where available)
2.2 What We Mean by “Public Information”
“Public information” means information that is made available to the general public without a login requirement, and that a business has chosen to publish publicly (or has been published by reputable public registries and platforms).
2.3 What We Do Not Intentionally Collect
STORAGENEAR is focused on business listing data, not sensitive personal data. We do not intentionally collect or publish:
- Government-issued IDs
- Personal residential addresses (unless the business is operated publicly from that address and it is intended as a business location)
- Personal phone numbers/emails not intended for business contact
- Payment details
- Private customer information
If you believe STORAGENEAR contains personal or sensitive data that should not appear, please contact us immediately (see Section 7).
3. What Information Appears on a Listing
A STORAGENEAR listing may include:
- Business name
- Facility/location address
- Phone number and/or public email (if available)
- Website link
- Operating hours (if publicly posted)
- Storage types (personal, business, vehicle, etc.)
- Amenities/features (e.g., climate-controlled, heated, 24/7 access, security)
- Service area or regions served (if applicable)
- Photos or logos (only if publicly available and used in accordance with applicable rules)
- A short description (publicly available or business-submitted)
Note: Pricing and unit availability can change frequently. If included, these are generally displayed as “indicative” or “last updated” information and may require confirmation with the business.
4. Listing Accuracy, Verification & Updates
We aim to keep the directory accurate and current, but public information can change without notice. STORAGENEAR takes reasonable steps to:
- Periodically refresh listing data from public sources
- Review user and business-submitted corrections
- Remove duplicates and outdated listings when identified
- Label data with context when details may vary (e.g., seasonal hours)
If you are a storage business owner or authorized representative, you can request updates at any time (see Section 6).
5. Claiming a Listing (Optional)
STORAGENEAR may offer a “claim listing” workflow to allow businesses to confirm they are authorized representatives.
Claiming a listing may allow you to:
- Suggest edits more quickly
- Add missing details (amenities, descriptions, photos, service notes)
- Confirm contact details
- Receive notifications about major listing changes (if offered)
If claiming is not yet available, you can still request updates via the methods in Section 6.
6. How to Add, Modify, or Remove a Business Listing
6.1 Add a New Business Listing
If your storage business is not listed and you want to be included, you can request a new listing.
To add your business, provide:
- Business name
- Address(es) in Canada
- Phone number and website
- Hours (optional)
- Main storage types & amenities
- A short description (optional)
- Proof you represent the business (optional but may speed up processing)
Submit your request:
- Email: info@storagenear.com
- Form: Add Storage
6.2 Request a Modification (Update Listing Data)
If a listing contains incorrect, outdated, or incomplete information, you can request a correction.
Common update requests include:
- New phone number or website
- Updated address or hours
- Updated amenities or storage types
- Business name changes
- Duplicate listing merges
- Photo/logo updates (subject to rights and source rules)
To request an update, provide:
- The listing URL on STORAGENEAR
- The fields you want to change
- The corrected information
- A public source confirming the update (recommended)
- If no public source exists, provide an explanation and we will review
Submit your request:
- Email: info@storagenear.com
- Form: Change Storage Info
6.3 Request Removal of a Business Listing
STORAGENEAR is built from public information and may include businesses even if they have not submitted their details directly. If you are an authorized representative and you want a listing removed, you may request removal.
To request removal, provide:
- The listing URL on STORAGENEAR
- Your name and role
- The business name and location
- Confirmation you are authorized to request removal
- The reason for removal (optional but helpful)
Removal request options:
- Full removal: The listing is removed from public search on STORAGENEAR
- Limited display / suppression: In some cases, we may suppress certain fields while investigating
- Closed/relocated status: If the business has closed, we may mark it “permanently closed” or “relocated” instead of removing it entirely, depending on what best serves accuracy for users
Submit your request:
- Email: info@storagenear.com
- Form: Removal Storage
7. Reporting Sensitive Data or Urgent Concerns
If you believe STORAGENEAR displays sensitive personal information, unsafe content, or information that should not be public, please contact us immediately.
Contact:
- Email: info@storagenear.com (recommended for privacy-related issues)
- Subject line suggestion: “URGENT: Listing Privacy Concern”
We will prioritize review and take appropriate action, which may include temporary suppression while we investigate.
8. Review Timeline and What to Expect
STORAGENEAR aims to review listing requests within a reasonable timeframe.
Typical processing:
- Simple updates (hours, phone, website): 3–10 business days
- More complex changes (ownership disputes, duplicates, verification): 10–20 business days
- Removal requests: 5–15 business days depending on verification needs
If we need additional information, we will contact you using the email you provided.
9. Ownership, Authorization & Disputes
To protect businesses and prevent unauthorized edits, STORAGENEAR may request verification for certain actions, including:
- Removal requests
- Business name changes
- Website or phone number changes
- Claims of ownership or representation
Verification may include confirming a business email domain, phone verification, or other reasonable checks.
If there is a dispute (e.g., multiple parties requesting conflicting changes), we may temporarily limit changes until the situation is clarified with reliable evidence.
10. How User Reviews and Ratings Are Handled (If Applicable)
If STORAGENEAR displays reviews or ratings:
- We may show publicly available review information or user-submitted feedback
- We may moderate content to remove spam, hate, or illegal content
- We do not guarantee review accuracy, and we encourage users to verify details directly with the storage provider
Businesses can report false or abusive reviews using: support@storagenear.com with the listing URL and evidence.
11. Compliance and Privacy
STORAGENEAR operates with privacy and transparency in mind. For details on how we handle personal information (including user submissions and business contact communications), please review our Privacy Policy.
